Times Square Theatre

The Times Square Theatre, located at 219 W. 42nd Street, opened in 1920. Architect Eugene De Rosa designed the theatre under the management of producers Edgar and Arch Selwyn. George Gershwin showcased his work Strike Up the Band four years later. Noel Coward’s Private Lives, starring Gertrude Lawrence and Laurence Olivier, premiered here in 1931. Though the Times Square Theatre still stands, it has remained closed since 1997.
