Off-Broadway News 1969: The Second Man Plays Final Performance September 8 Jacob Brandt's new folk-rock musical concludes its limited engagement as part of Next Door at NYTW.

Folk-rock musical 1969: The Second Man concludes its limited engagement at the Fourth Street Theatre September 8 as part of New York Theatre Workshop's ongoing Next Door series. Featuring a six-piece band, the show tells the story of Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon.

1969: The Second Man is created by and features music and lyrics by Jacob Brandt. The musical features a book by Dan Giles, direction by Jaki Bradley, and is produced by Madeleine Foster Bersin.

"I’m passionate about theatre that uses music in unconventional ways to drive a story," Brandt told Playbill. And that his newest work, 1969: The Second Man, "examines the fine line between American exceptionalism and individual achievement."

Performances of 1969: The Second Man began August 24. Lizzie Hagstedt and Angel Lin complete the cast.
