Master puppeteer, Ronnie Burkett will bring his 1999 OBIE Award winning show, Tinka's New Dress, to The Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, N.Y., to begin the theatre's Summer Mainstage Season, May 26-June 6.
Tinka's New Dress, a piece for adults only, is a fable based on the true story of Czech puppeteers who performed daring, illegal shows during World War II. Featuring a revolving, life-size carousel and a cast of 36 marionettes, the story follows Tinka and her brother Carl during a totalitarian regime, and their underground puppet show.
Canadian artist Burkett started the Ronnie Burkett Theatre of Marionettes in 1986 and has become an internationally renowned performer, whether in Canada or New York or in the various festivals around the world. Other productions include: Fool's Edge and Awful Manors.
The creative staff for Tinka's includes: Cathy Nosaty (Composer and Sound Design), Brian Kerby (Lights), and Denise Clark (Choreography).
