Patrick Marber's Closer has been nominated for a Tony as best play. Sex is the subject of Marber's gritty tragi-comedy, as four Londoners perform a romantic round robin in this bleak look at modern love and lust. Portraying the dysfunctional lovers are 1998 Tony winner Natasha Richardson, Rupert Graves, Ciaran Hinds and Anna Friel.

Marber's first play was 1995's Dealer's Choice, which premiered in New York at Manhattan Theatre Club in 1997. Subsequent productions have been mounted in Seattle, Chicago and Los Angeles. A director as well as writer, Marber staged Closer and Dealer's Choice as well as the recent London premiere of David Mamet's The Old Neighborhood at the Royal Court.

A hit in London, Closer garnered the Evening Standard, Time Out, Critic's Circle and Laurence Olivier Award for Best Play.

Outer Critics' Circle Special Achievment Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance
