Riccardo Hernandez has been nominated for a 1999 Tony Award for his set design of Parade. Previously on Broadway, Hernandez has designed The Tempest. Hernandez has had a long relationship designing for The Public Theater, where he designed Macbeth, Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk, The Tempest(Delacorte Theater), Blade to the Heat directed by George C. Wolfe (Audelco Award); One Flea Spare, Dancing on Her Knees directed by Graciela Daniele; The America Play (American Theater Wing nomination). For Manhattan Theatre Club, Hernandez had designed Holiday Heart. For Playwrights Horizons: Police Boys; For Music Theatre Group/Vineyard Theatre: America Dreaming directed by Michael Mayer. Regional work includes: American Repertory Theatre, Arena Stage, Center Stage, Dallas Theater Center, Goodman Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre, D.C., Syracuse Stage, Yale Repertory Theatre. He designed the opera Amistad by Thulani Davis and Anthony Davis at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
