The eligibility deadline and the date of the nominations announcement have also been revealed.

The 71st Annual Tony Awards will be broadcast live from New York City June 11, 2017, beginning at 8 PM ET on CBS-TV. The three-hour program honors theatre professionals for distinguished achievement on Broadway.

CBS has broadcast the annual event since 1978. A location for the ceremony will be announced at a later time.

The official eligibility cut-off date for Tony eligibility will be April 27, 2017, and nominations for the awards will be announced May 2, 2017.

The Tony Awards were first held April 6, 1947, at the Waldorf Astoria’s Grand Ballroom. The ceremony is presented by Tony Award Productions, which is a joint venture of the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, which founded the Tonys.
