Education News 2024 Write Out Loud Contest Now Accepting Submissions

Tony nominee Taylor Louderman and Ben Rauhala created the contest to uplift emerging musical theatre songwriters.

Co-founders Taylor Louderman (Mean Girls) and Ben Rauhala have announced that the 2024 Write Out Loud contest is now accepting submissions. Emerging musical theatre writers are invited to submit original songs for consideration by February 29 at 11:59 PM ET.

The grand prize winner will have the opportunity to showcase their composition in a concert at 54 Below, where their work will be performed by a Broadway artist. The winning composition will also be professionally recorded and released on digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and iTunes. Up to 10 finalists will also have their work showcased in the 54 Below concert.

The contest is open to songwriters age 13 or older, excluding winners of previous Write Out Loud contests. Each entrant may submit up to two original compositions, which will be judged by a panel made up of Write Out Loud board members and, in previous years, several industry professionals.

Now in its 6th year, the Write Out Loud program is a registered non-profit.
