News 24th Annual Gypsy of the Year to Play the New Amsterdam in December The 24th Annual Gypsy of the Year competition — benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS — will be held Dec. 3 at 4:30 PM and Dec. 4 at 2 PM at The New Amsterdam Theatre, home of the Disney-Cameron Mackintosh musical Mary Poppins.

The annual competition comes after six weeks of intensive fundraising by various shows on and off Broadway as well as touring productions throughout the country. It's a chance to celebrate the Broadway gypsies while raising funds for the worthy organization.

Awards are presented in two categories: for best skit and for most money raised for BC/EFA.

Last year, Gypsy of the Year raised a record-breaking $4,895,253, pushing the competition's 23-year total to $49,031,973.
