As befitting its national spokesperson, Anne Reinking, National Dance Week celebrates dance in the theatre with two special events in New York City April 28 and 30.

In partnership with Capezio, the invited casts of The Sound of Music and Smokey Joe's Cafe will appear at two of the company's stores. The Sound of Music will be at the Capezio on 57th Street April 28 from 4-6 PM. Smokey Joe's Cafe will be at the Capezio on 51st Street April 30 from 4-6 PM.

Other events include meeting with the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries April 27 and May 1, and dancers from the David Parsons Dance Company on April 29. A special children's show, Miss Linda and The Blue Fairy, will be performed at 2 PM at the 61st Street Capezio May 2.

National Dance Week was begun in the mid-1970s to encourage dance in America. The national spokesperson is Anne Reinking and the national chairperson is Mariane Prinkey. National Dance Week is on the web at ambrosiaweb.com/nationaldanceweek/.
