News 33 Variations Makes Regional Debut in Cincinnati Sept. 2 Moisés Kaufman's Tony-nominated drama 33 Variations makes its first post-Broadway bow Sept. 2 at the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati.

Lynn Meyers stages the production that will run through Sept. 20. 33 Variations is the first show of the 2009-2010 season at ETC.

Amy Warner stars as musicologist Katherine Brandt with Dennis Parlato as Beethoven, Morgan Grahame as Clara Brandt, Dale Hodges as Dr. Gertrude Landenburger, Drew Fracher as Anton Schindler, Alan Kendall as Anton Diabelli and Ryan Wesley Gilreath as Mike Clark.

33 Variations follows Dr. Katherine Brandt, a musicologist battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease), whose lifelong passion for music finds her in a race against time to uncover the mysteries of Beethoven's Diabelli Variations.

The creative team includes Brian C. Mehring (scenic and lighting design), Reba Senske (costume design), Matt Callahan (sound design), Dee Anne Bryll (choreographer) and Rocco Dal Vera (dialect coach).

33 Variations premiered in 2007 at Arena Stage in Washington, DC. The La Jolla Playhouse later produced the play in 2008 prior to its Broadway debut in February 2009. The work earned five Tony nominations, including Best Play and Best Actress for Jane Fonda, who starred as Dr. Brandt. Set designer Derek McLane earned a Tony for his work on the production.
