The Full Monty won 7 nominations.

Out in front in the play categories were Tom Stoppard's The Invention of Love with 6 nominations and David Auburn's Proof with 5.

The Outer Critics Circle is made up of out-of-town reporters and critics who cover the New York theatre. This year's nominating panel features Marjorie Gunner, Mario Fratti, Glenn Loney, Louis A. Rachow, Patrick Hoffman, Joan T. Nourse, Irene Backalenick, Aubrey Reuben and Simon Saltzman. The winners of this year's awards will be announced on April 30 and an award ceremony will be held on May 24.
