Classic Arts News 92nd Street Y to Hold Guitar Marathon January 15 New York's 92nd Street Y will hold a daylong marathon tracing the history of Spanish guitar on January 15.
The marathon, split into two concerts at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., will feature performances by 11 guitarists, including Eliot Fisk and Pepe Romero. In addition to repertoire drawn from the 450-year history of the instrument, the event will include three world premieres.

The guitar marathon, which is part of the month-long New York Guitar Festival, has been held every other year since 2001.

The program includes new works written and performed by Gyan Riley and Dominic Frasca; performances by Fisk of works by Alb_niz, de Falla, Rodrigo, and other 20th-century composers; and a performance by the young Croatian guitarist Ana Vidovic. Romero, the co-curator of the New York Guitar Festival, will play music by his father, Celedonio Romero, and other composers.

John Schaefer, a radio host from New York's WNYC, will act as host.
