The September evening launched Bernstein: The Best of All Possible Worlds, Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic's citywide festival celebrating the work of the late composer Leonard Bernstein. The all-Bernstein evening featured the San Francisco Symphony conducted by musical director Michael Tilson Thomas. Performers included two-time Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole, soprano Dawn Upshaw, baritone Thomas Hampson and cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
