The original Broadway production of Paula Vogel's Tony-nominated play Indecent is being remounted at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston in a co-production with Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, where the production will move in June. In addition to featuring director Rebecca Taichmann's original Tony-winning direction, the production sees the return of several members from the Broadway cast, with the additions of Tony nominees Harry Groener and Elizabeth A. Davis.
Inspired by the true events surrounding the controversial 1923 Broadway debut of Sholem Asch’s The God of Vengeance—a play seen by some as a seminal work of Jewish culture, and by others as an act of traitorous libel—Indecent charts the history of an incendiary drama and the path of the artists who risked their careers and lives to perform it.
