One night a week, the housewife will reveal what she's really like. Sure, she seems to be the happy-go-lucky cooker and cleaner of the '50's ideal, but boy, oh, boy is she not in A Housewife in Blue, a musical comedy by Lisa Ann Orkin, playing Wednesdays July 11-Aug. 29 at the Whitefire Theatre in L.A.

A raunchy musical comedy about the postmodern housewife, Blue literally describes the humor and our heroine's mood. She was once a teenage dancing queen but suddenly has found herself saddled with a high-school sweetheart who is now a no-good husband and the father of her several kids. The only way out is the popular American solution to martial problems — divorce.

Orkin (DaDa at La Jolla Playhouse) stars as the Housewife in Blue with backup from The P.T.A. and the band Supportive Spouse. Lori Allen Thomas as Gertrude and Nora Linden as Mabel make up the P.T.A. while Matt Vinson (keyboards), Michael Wachs (percussion) and Russell Thomas (bass) are Supportive Spouse.

Before the show, the P.T.A. will serve canapes and Easy-Cheese-on-a-Ritz to the audience. Tickets are $16. The Whitefire Theatre is located at 13500 Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks. For reservations, call (818) 841-6699.
