Performances are now underway at The Flea Theater for the revival of Thomas Bradshaw's investigation of American slavery, his 2008 play Southern Promises. Helmed by artistic director Niegel Smith, and featuring a cast made up entirely of actors of color, the all-new production is playing in The Flea's Sam theatre, where it will officially open March 24.

In Southern Promises, a plantation owner vows to set his slaves free on his deathbed. But when his wife rejects the request after his passing, chaos erupts on the plantation.
