Off-Broadway News A New Brain, Chess, and It Shoulda Been You Will Play Brooklyn The Gallery Players’ 51st season kicks off this fall with Annie.

Brooklyn’s Gallery Players has announced details of its 51st season of programming, which will launch with the Tony-winning musical Annie, opening September 16. Following will be Bernard Pomerance’s The Elephant Man, opening October 28; as well as the recent Broadway musical It Shoulda Been You, opening December 1.

The William Finn-James Lapine musical A New Brain will open January 27, 2018; followed by the Neil Simon comedy Plaza Suite, opening March 10. The final production in the season will be Chess, featuring a score by ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, and lyrics by Tim Rice. It opens April 21.

The Gallery Players will continue with its 21st annual Black Box New Play Festival, beginning May 21, 2018; and the Overtures series, which presents staged readings of new musicals in development.
