Open auditions are being held in August for children ages 11-14 for the hit Broadway musical Big now playing at the Shubert Theatre. The musical is based on the Twentieth Century Fox film of the same title, starring Tom Hanks.

Kids need not have professional theatre experience but some dance training and singing ability are highly required.

Director Mike Ockrent (Me and My Girl, Crazy for You ) and Tony Award winning choreographer Susan Stroman are looking for boys and girls ages 11-14 of all races from the tri-state area . Girls should be 4'9" - 5' in height and boys, 4'8" - 5'2". Children auditioning will be considered for lead roles as well as chorus.

Thursday, Aug. 8; Sign up: 9:30 -10:30 AM; Auditions begin 10:30 AM.
Boys: Friday, Aug. 9; Sign up: 9:30- 10:30 AM; Auditions begin 10:30 AM.

One final note, boys and girls auditioning should wear leotards, tights, comfortable clothes, sneakers and/or flat jazz shoes to dance in. It is also asked that auditionees bring a picture of themselves as well as sheet music of a contemporary pop or musical theatre song which shows off singing voice.
