News Abingdon Swinging On a Star Benefit Will Feature Nancy Opel, Stanley Bahorek and Laura Daniel; Frances Sternhagen Will Be Honored Abingdon Theatre Company will celebrate its 2013-14 season with Abingdon: Swinging On a Star, a benefit gala and dinner, Oct. 7 at Espace.

Dick Cavett will host the evening, which will begin at 6 PM and will honor actress Frances Sternhagen as well as Barbara Blair Randall, president of New York’s Fashion Center Business Improvement District, and actress Sheila Ball Burkert.

Performers will include Tony nominee Nancy Opel, Stanley Bahorek and Laura Daniel. Donald Brenner directs with musical direction by Joshua Zecher-Ross.

Presenters and guests are scheduled to include playwright A.R. Gurney, Kathleen Chalfant, Cherry Jones, Sloane Shelton, Lois Smith, musician Melanie, members of the Act II…Gether Youth Troupe and artist Kyle Hardin DeWoody.

A live auction led by actor and auctioneer Peter Brouwer will features tickets to Broadway's The Glass Menagerie, a round of golf at Sleepy Hollow Country Club, tickets to a Yankees game and more.

Proceeds benefit Abingdon Theatre Company's mission to develop and produce new American plays. Espace is located at 635 West 42nd Street. Tickets begin at $400.
