The Abingdon Theatre Company will be presenting the world premiere of Elisabeth Karlin's play The Mooncalf beginning Oct. 19 at the Blue Heron Arts Center. The serio-comic play shows what might happen when two mothers, two daughters and an animal lover named Daffodil are brought together in a New York hospital.
Sturgis Warner will direct for Abingdon, which is a core group of professionals in the community devoted to developing new works through readings and workshops.
According to the Shirley Herz press office, The Mooncalf won an honorable mention in the Writer's Digest Writing Competition for Karlin, whose other credits include Lucy's Last Date and Dress Down Day.
The Blue Heron Arts Center is located at 123 E. 24th Street. For tickets call SmartTix at (212) 206-1515 or visit www.smarttix.com.
