News Abingdon Theatre Company Will Cry Havoc Beginning Oct. 20 Tom Coash's Cry Havoc will make its Off-Broadway debut at the Abingdon Theatre Company beginning Oct. 20.

Coash's work "is set in present day Cairo, where a British expatriate writer and his male Egyptian lover are forced to examine the fine line between conviction and obsession as they confront a repressive government and their own identities," according to press notes.

The Abingdon cast will feature Keith Merrill, Pamela Paul and Sameer Sheikh under the direction of Kim T. Sharp, associate artistic director for the Abingdon.

Creative duties will be handled by Anthony Kudner (lighting design), Deborah J. Caney (costume design), Kim T. Sharp and James C. DeWoody (set design) and Ken Feldman (sound design).

Cry Havoc premiered at California State University, earning the National New Play Award. Coash's drama made its professional premiere at Philadelphia's InterAct Theatre, with subsequent productions at Los Angeles' West Coast Ensemble, Chicago's Bailiwick Theatre and Western Kentucky University. Tom Coash currently serves as the director of new play development for Stageworks/Hudson.

Cry Havoc will officially open Off-Broadway Oct. 28 and will play a limited engagement through Nov. 11 at the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre, located in Manhattan at 312 West 36th Street.
