News Abraham, Ward, Moses, Jones Star in Encores! New Moon, March 27-30 Joining former Jekyll & Hyde star Christiane Noll in the Encores! presentation of New Moon will be Peter Benson, Rodney Gilfry, Simon Jones, Burke Moses, Lauren Ward and F. Murray Abraham, City Center announced on its website.

The 1928 Sigmund Romberg musical, which will play City Center March 27-30, features music by Romberg and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, Frank Mandel and Laurence Schwab. It boasts such tunes as "Stout-Hearted Men" and "Lover Come Back to Me."

City Center says of the musical, "loosely based on a true story, it follows a French aristocrat with revolutionary sympathies who is wanted by the French authorities. Captured in New Orleans, he is being returned on the ship 'New Moon,' when the crew mutinies." Gary Griffin directs.

Christiane Noll made her Broadway debut as Emma Carew in Frank Wildhorn's Jekyll & Hyde. She later joined the Broadway company of It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues and starred in the City Center Encores! production of Out of This World.

Burke Moses starred in Beauty and the Beast and Kiss Me, Kate on Broadway. Lauren Ward starred in the Off-Broadway premieres of the musicals Violet and Saturday Night. F. Murray Abraham's scant musical background includes the Broadway musical, The Triumph of Love.

Gary Griffin is the hot Chicago director whose Pacific Overtures for Chicago Shakespeare Theatre is being repeated at London's Donmar Warehouse, with an American and British cast.
