Classic Arts News ABT's Opening-Night Gala to Honor Dancer Julie Kent American Ballet Theatre's opening-night gala on October 19 at New York City Center will feature works by Agnes de Mille, Mark Morris, Jerome Robbins, and Kirk Peterson, ABT announced.
The program features the company premiere of Robbins' Afternoon of a Faun and the revival premiere of de Mille's Rodeo, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the choreographer's birth. The other works on the program are Morris's Gong, the pas de deux from Marius Petipa's Paquita, and excerpts from Peterson's The Howling Cat.

The evening also honors Julie Kent, who begins her 20th-anniversary season with the company.
