In honor of the 25th anniversary of American Buffalo's run on Broadway (and ACT's own production, playing in the Geary Theatre Jan. 9-Feb. 9), the theatre will be accepting entries in three different Mamet categories: 100% original Mamet-esque script, an adaptation of another work (Shakespeare, Neil Simon, etc.) in Mamet-style and a new scene created for Mamet's characters (say, Glengarry Glen Ross's Ricky Roma meets American Buffalo's Teach in a bar where they both try to pick up Oleanna's Carol). All entries must be three pages long and written to be performed. Entries are due Jan. 17; the ten winners will be notified Jan. 24. Winning scripts will be performed Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at Fred's Columbia Room at the Geary Theatre. Prizes include free tickets to upcoming ACT productions, movie passes for Landmark Cinemas and gift certificates to Border's Books.
