News A.C.T. to Offer Chat with Playwright Guare Dec. 13 American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) in San Francisco will offer A Conversation with John Guare Dec. 13.

Part of the Koret Visiting Artist Series, the 10 AM chat will be moderated by A.C.T. Dramaturg and Director of Humanities Michael Paller.

Guare, whose works include Six Degrees of Separation, The House of Blue Leaves and A.C.T.'s upcoming Rich and Famous, will "talk about four decades in the American theatre and his new version of Rich and Famous that includes significant rewrites in preparation for the show's first revival since 1976," according to press notes.

The free event will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.

In a statement artistic director Carey Perloff said, "One of my long-standing artistic dreams at A.C.T. has been to bring the extraordinary and delightful American master John Guare to meet our audience and to work on a play. Both things are happening this December, when Guare will be in residence at A.C.T. to complete rewrites on his hilarious Rich and Famous, and to engage in a lively dialogue with our dramaturg Michael Paller as part of our Koret Visiting Artist series. We look forward to welcoming him to San Francisco!"

Reservations are required and can be made by visiting www.act-sf.org/koret or by calling (415) 749-2ACT. *

Directed by John Rando, Rich and Famous will play A.C.T. Jan. 8-Feb. 8, 2009.
