Actors Theatre of Louisville will close its 20th anniversary production of Samm-Art Williams' Home Jan. 22. The folk comedy began performances Dec. 30, officially opening New Year's Day, Jan. 1. Tazewell Thompson (Constant Star) directs.

Home traces the history of Cephus Miles, an orphaned black boy who gives up his tiny farm in North Carolina when his sweetheart leaves him for a better life. Cephus then loses the property for refusing to fight in Vietnam and winds up in prison. When he is released, he travels north to the city but finds himself caught up in drugs and ends up a derelict on the street. Only a message from North Carolina brings him back from the edge, returning him to the woman he once loved and the land that was his. Home received a Tony nomination for Best Play in 1980 and an Outer Critics' Circle Award.

Bryan Hicks stars as Cephus Miles. Opal Alladin and Linda Sithole play the rest of the people in Miles' life.

Designing the show are Paul Owen (set), Holly Jenkin-Evans (costumes), Pip Gordon (lighting) and Martin R. Desjardins (sound).

Tickets are $25-$16 and available by calling (502) 584-1205 or (800) 4 ATL-TIX. The Actors Theatre of Louisville is located at 316 West Main Street and on the web at http://www.actorstheatre.org. -- By Christine Ehren
