Tony nominee Adam Pascal will leave the Broadway cast of Rent this Sunday, Nov. 2, as will Fredi Walker, who plays Joanne. Pascal's performance as the HIV-positive Roger in the smash musical catapulted the singer/actor to heartthrob status. He has been a cast member of Rent since its inception; several months ago, the actor cut back his performances from 8 to 7 per week to devote more time to his singing career.
Pascal was nominated for the 1996 Tony as Best Actor in a Musical.
Production spokesman Don Summa said Pascal and Walker will give their final performances at the Nov. 2 evening show. Pascal will be succeeded by Norbert Leo Butz, who has been playing the role on Sunday evenings. Gwen Stewart, who has been singing the solo on "Seasons of Love," will assume the role of Joanne.
