News Ahlin, Genebach, Genest, McCullough and Nolen Will Headline The Seafarer for TheaterWorks in CT Casting has been announced for Conor McPherson's chilling play The Seafarer, which kicks off the 2008-2009 season at Hartford TheaterWorks Nov. 12.

Henry Wishcamper will direct the Tony-nominated Christmas-set tale that will run through Dec. 21.

The Seafarer features John Ahlin (Gray Area), Chris Genebach (Goodman's King Lear), Edmond Genest (13th of Paris), Allen McCullough and Dean Nolen (Wilma's Amadeus).

"It's Christmas Eve and four Irish blokes converge in a dingy Dublin basement for what they hope will be a festive evening of whiskey and poker. When a mysterious stranger arrives, the stakes of the game are raised frighteningly high. The big question - is this holiday visitor a Santa or a Satan?" press notes read.

The complete creative team will be announced shortly.

Playwright Conor McPherson directed the recent Broadway engagement of The Seafarer, which earned Tony nominations for Best Direction and Best Play. The work also earned an Olivier nomination for Best New Play for its London debut in 2006.
