News Ahrens & Flaherty and Novelist Prose to Discuss Glorious Ones at Lincoln Center Oct. 23 Tony Award-winning songwriters Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, the respective lyricist-librettist and composer of Lincoln Center Theater's new production of The Glorious Ones, will appear in LCT's Platform Series discussion 6 PM Oct. 23.

The pre-performance talk will also include Francine Prose, the author of the novel on which the musical is based.

The Glorious Ones, now at LCT's Mitzi Newhouse Theater, is the first production of Lincoln Center Theater's 23rd season. It's a backstage musical about the lives, loves, ambitions and art of the performers in a 16th-century commedia dell'arte troupe in Italy in the late Renaissance.

Platform Series events take place in the lobby of the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65th Street). Admission is free and open to all; however, seating in the lobby is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis only, beginning at 5:30 PM.

* Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty return to Lincoln Center Theater where their musicals Dessa Rose, A Man of No Importance and My Favorite Year were first produced. Their Broadway credits include Ragtime (Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics' Circle Awards, two Grammy nominations), Seussical (Drama Desk and Grammy nominations), Once on This Island (Tony nomination; Olivier Award for Best Musical, London), and Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life.

Francine Prose is the author of 14 books of fiction, including the novels "Blue Angel," a finalist for the National Book Award, and "The Glorious Ones."

Lincoln Center Theater's platform series was introduced in the summer of 1998. Transcripts of the previous talks are available on-line at www.lct.org.
