Director Laura Savia (assistant director for Twelfth Night and 10 Million Miles) stages the 7 PM reading that will feature cast members Gbenga Akinnagbe, David Wilson Barnes, Purva Bedi, Dana Eskelson and Karla Mosley.
Here's how Ars Nova characterizes the work: "Still reeling from the destruction of her New York City apartment by a construction crane, Rachel begins a job as the environmental friendliness consultant on a new development project in Dubai: a perfectly circular island awash in hotels, luxury shopping centers, and enormous homes. In a land filled with startling contradictions, Rachel attempts to make her new life 'nice.' But being an American abroad has always meant complications, and home can be a difficult thing to define."
A 2008 Wasserstein Prize winner and 2009 MacDowell Fellow, Jacqmin's plays have been developed with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, 2econd Stage Theatre, The 24 Hour Plays Off-Broadway, and the inaugural NNPN University Playwrights Workshop at Stanford University.
The next Out Loud reading will be Mat Smart's A Bed the Size of Portugal, directed by Wes Grantom on Sept. 14.
