Showbiz411 reports that Tony winner Al Pacino, on Broadway this past season in China Doll, is aiming to return to The Great White Way next season, starring as A Streetcar Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof playwright Tennessee Williams in When God Looked Away, a new play by Dotson Rader.

The stage production, which will co-star Tony Award winner Judith Light, is adapted from Rader’s 1985 biography on Williams. Light will portray a friend who is called to Williams’ side later in life.

A workshop will take place in Los Angeles next week. When God Looked Away will be directed by Robert Allan Ackerman with Eric Falkenstein as lead producer.

Costumes will be by Donna Granata.
