God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, the first musical collaboration between Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, is available for licensing from Music Theatre International.

MTI obtained licensing rights for the musical last year. Availability for the title had been restricted, but it is now fully available for production to coincide with the upcoming Encores! Off-Center staging that runs July 27-29 at City Center in New York.

Based on the Kurt Vonnegut novel of the same title, God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater is billed as an “outrageous and savagely funny fantasy about people, their pleasures, pains, and perversions, a penetrating satire on insanity—a millionaire's private lunacy.”

Lyricist Ashman directed the original 1979 staging of the musical that was first presented by the WPA Theatre. Ashman and composer Menken also collaborated on such musicals as Little Shop of Horrors, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and more.
