Leaping the Islington paddock, so to speak, Sylvia lands at the Apollo. Its original cast of Jonathan Pryce, Kate Fahy, Matthew Marsh and Eddie Redmayne transfers with the production, which is directed by Anthony Page. Peter Mumford supplies the lighting, with designs by Hildegard Bechtler.

The play depicts a successful family man, Martin, whose life unravels when he falls deeply in love with a goat. Its original Broadway cast included Bill Pullman, Mercedes Ruehl, Jeffrey Carlson and Stephen Rowe, in a production directed by David Esbjornson. The New York production won Albee the Tony Award for Best Play, as well as New York Critics Circle, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk awards.

Meanwhile, the Almeida is showing a stage version of the 1998 film “Festen.” Rufus Norris directs a show that also wowed the critics, with a cast including Johnny Lee Miller, Jane Asher, Robert Pugh and Tom Hardy.
