Directed by Robert Bruce McIntosh with music direction and vocal arrangements by John Bronston, the readings will boast the talents of Karmine Alers, Noel Marie Berkofsky, Cheryl Dowling, Peter Farrell, Richard Kent Green, Patrick O. Henney, Charlotte Maier, Jessica Mary Murphy, Nicholas Rodriguez, Mark L. Smith, James Stovall and Jacob Thompson. Liberty features book and lyrics by Dana Leslie Goldstein and music by Jonathan Goldstein. The musical, according to press notes, is described as "the story of America's most famous immigrant, who arrives from France in 1884 amid government-inspired anti-foreigner fervor. Liberty wins over the people of the U.S., who raise the money to build her pedestal. Liberty is an exploration of the conflict between recent immigrants and 'native-born' Americans in the 1880's, with obvious parallels to the current immigration debate."
Show times are April 15 at 12:30 PM and April 16 and 17 at 11 AM. The readings are being presented by Theresa Wozunk.
The Algonquin Theater is located in Manhattan at 123 East 24th Street, between Lexington and Park Avenue South. For reservations visit www.libertythemusical.com.
