Two-time Tony nominee Alex Brightman has a busy 2024 ahead of him. In addition to his already announced stint as Lancelot in the Broadway revival of Spamalot, Brightman will be donning his writing cap once again as his new play, The Life and Slimes of Marc Summers, arrives Off-Broadway.

Set to begin performances at New World Stages February 14, 2024, ahead of a February 22 opening night, the show reunites Brightman with composer Drew Gasparini to tell the story of Nickelodeon host Marc Summers.

Part interactive game show, part memoir, The Life and Slimes of Marc Summers follows the infamous host from the set of the children's game show Double Dare to the Food Network, where he has now worked for more than 20 years.

Summers says in a statement, "Bringing this show to New York feels like a surreal dream, one that I'm still pinching myself over. The gratitude I owe to the immensely talented duo Alex Brightman and Drew Gasparini can't be overstated. Their brilliant book and music paved the way for this wild ride, transforming stumbling blocks into stepping stones. Equally, I'm indebted to my producers Lisa Dozier Shacket and my incredible friend Guy Fieri for their unwavering support. Honestly, I sometimes feel like the luckiest guy in the world. I can't wait for people to join us on this journey, where laughter, entertainment, and pure joy will collide in the heart of New York City. Their combined efforts have made this a moment I'll forever cherish."

The creative team will include director Chad Rabinovitz, set designer Christopher Rhoton, lighting designer Jeffrey Small, and co-sound designers David Sheehan and Hide J Nakajo. The show will be general managed by LDK Productions/Lisa Dozier Shacket and Michael Shannon.

The Life and Slimes of Marc Summers is produced by Lisa Dozier Shacket, with Guy Fieri, Jeremy Wein/Existence Media in association with Marlene and Gary Cohen, Christopher Rhoton, and Joe Trentacosta.

The work was originally developed and produced at Constellation Stage and Screen in Bloomington Indiana.
