The oratorio for soloists and chorus received its world premiere in June 2013 with the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus under the direction of Noah Himmelstein, who will also stage the July 19-20 L.A. premiere at Disney Concert Hall.

Lippa, who appeared as Milk in the world-premiere staging, will repeat his performance with the GMCLA. Silber (Hello Again, Carousel, Master Class) will be the soprano soloist, with Quinn Morrissey as Young Harvey Milk.

Bruce Cohen (Big Fish, "Milk," "American Beauty") produces.

As previously reported, I Am Harvey Milk will have its New York City premiere at Avery Fisher Hall in October with Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth alongside Lippa.

"I Am Harvey Milk is our 60-minute oratorio capturing the colorful and tragic life of Harvey Milk, from his childhood, to his rise as the first openly gay man to hold public office in California, to his untimely assassination. Part choral work and part theater piece, I Am Harvey Milk is an exceptional and emotional celebration of a true American icon," according to GMCLA.

A cast recording of the San Francisco premiere of I Am Harvey Milk, which also featured Laura Benanti as a soloist, is now available.

Lippa is the composer-lyricist of Big Fish, The Addams Family, The Wild Party and john & jen, among others.
