Tony Award winner Doug Hughes directs the Roundabout Theatre Company presentation — also starring Alvin Epstein, Elizabeth Franz, Jessica Hecht and Euan Morton — that began previews Feb. 2 at the Laura Pels Theater for a limited run through May 6.

Told through a series of flashbacks, Howard Katz centers on the downward spiral of the eponymous cutthroat talent agent whose life has taken a turn for the worse. Marber directed the world premiere of his work in June 2001 at London's National Theater's Cottesloe space.

Molina (Fiddler on the Roof, Art) leads the cast in the title role opposite Max Baker (Mother Courage), Alvin Epstein (Waiting for Godot), Elizabeth Franz (Brighton Beach Memoirs, Tony Award winner for Death of a Salesman), Jessica Hecht (After the Fall), Patrick Henney (Beauty and the Beast), Edward Hajj (East is East), Euan Morton (Taboo) and Charlotte Parry (The Importance of Being Earnest).

The design team includes Scott Pask (sets), Catherine Zuber (costumes), Christopher Akerlind (lights) and David Van Tieghem (sound) — who also provides original music.

London scribe Marber is known for such stage plays as Closer (which he also adapted for film), Dealer's Choice, The Chain Play, Musicians and After Miss Julie. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his screenplay to the film "Notes on a Scandal" and is now at work on "The Tourist" and "Alan Partridge: The Movie." Hughes — Tony winner for his direction of Doubt — has previously staged Jon Robin Baitz's The Paris Letter and Stephen Belber's McReele at the Roundabout's Off-Broadway home, the Laura Pels Theatre. The director of Frozen also reteamed with the non-profit on Broadway with Richard Greenberg's A Naked Girl on the Appian Way and a revival of Eugene O'Neill's A Touch of the Poet.

Tickets to Howard Katz at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street) are available by calling Roundabout Ticket Services at (212) 719-1300 or online at roundabouttheatre.org.
