Off-Broadway News All-Drag Murder Mystery Death Drop Headed Off-Broadway With Drag Race Stars Jujubee, Willam, More

Described as a "Dragatha Christie murder mystery," the work played a West End run in 2020.

Off-Broadway is about to get sickening—fatally sickening. All-drag murder mystery Death Drop has set an Off-Broadway run at New World Stages' Stage I, with previews beginning June 30 ahead of a July 13 opening night. The news was revealed on Instagram.

Set on Tuck Island in 1991 at Lady von Fistenberg's gathering to celebrate Princess Diana and Prince Charles' 10th anniversary, Death Drop is a classic murder mystery whodunnit—but with drag queens. The West End run featured a frequently changing cast of Drag Race stars and local drag performers throughout its run, and with "cast subject to change" Off-Broadway, a similar setup is expected as the show makes its North American debut. The work is based on an idea by Christopher D. Clegg and written by Holly Stars.

Opening the Off-Broadway bow will be RuPaul's Drag Race stars Jujubee, Willam, and Shuga Cain, along with show writer Stars, Kiki Ball-Change, Peachez Iman Cummings, and Wang Newton.

Death Drop is directed by Jesse Jones, with music by Nicola and Rose Dempsey and dramaturgy by Alex Wyse and Wesley Taylor. The production will feature scenic design by Justin Williams, costume design by Isobel Pellow, lighting design by Jack Weir, sound design by Beth Duke, and wig design by Florencia Melone. KGM Theatrical will serve as general manager, and Tinc Productions provides production management.

The show is produced by TuckShop, along with Tom Smedes, Heather Shields, Peter Stern, Bruce Robert Harris and Jack W. Batman, Andres Martinez, Marc David Levine, Scott Johnson, M&E Productions, Bryan McCaffrey, Kyle Valentine, and Michael McCrary. Cody Lassen serves as executive producer.
