The Nov. 24 benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will be held at 7 PM at the John Jay College. Directed by Richard Sabellico, the cast also includes Marian Seldes (Vera Charles), Michael Berresse (Ralph Devine), Olympia Dukakis (Mrs. Upson), Swoosie Kurtz (Agnes Gooch), Rosie O'Donnell (Nora Muldoon), Charles Shaughnessy (Brian O'Bannion), Douglas Sills (M. Lindsay Woolsey), B.D. Wong (Ito), Louis Zorich (Mr. Babcock) and T.J. Larke (Young Patrick Dennis). The evening — featuring costumes coordinated by Michael Bottari and Ronald Case — marks the second time Busch has played the free-spirited Auntie Mame to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. A Sept. 1998 reading featured Peggy Cass, Maxwell Caulfield, John Davidson, Harvey Evans, Marilyn Farina, Barbara Feldon, Marcia Lewis and Juliet Mills.
Auntie Mame played the Broadhurst Theatre Oct. 1956-Jun. 1958. Directed by Morton Da Costa, the original Broadway cast included Rosalind Russell as Auntie Mame, Peggy Cass as Agnes Gooch and Jan Handzlik as the young Patrick Dennis.
