News Alliance Issues "Guide to the L.A. Theatre Community Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights recently issued a "Guide to the Los Angeles Theatre Community," a 30-page booklet which not only lists major producing organizations and available theatres but offers a breakdown of acting, writing and directing groups in southern California. It is the first time such a theatre resource guide has been assembled in Los Angeles. The cost is $6 for non-members, $4 for members. ALAP hopes to publish the guide annually.

Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights recently issued a "Guide to the Los Angeles Theatre Community," a 30-page booklet which not only lists major producing organizations and available theatres but offers a breakdown of acting, writing and directing groups in southern California. It is the first time such a theatre resource guide has been assembled in Los Angeles. The cost is $6 for non-members, $4 for members. ALAP hopes to publish the guide annually.

ALAP is also offering members and non-members sample contracts for playwrights covering Play Readings and Production Contracts for Plays. The latter is $2 for members, $3 for non-members. The playreading sample contract is $1 members, $2 non-members.

ALAP is sponsoring a play reading festival Sept. 23-26, with nine plays by ALAP members being read over a four-day period at seven participating L.A. theatres: Actors Gang, Circle X, Open Fist, Moving Arts, Playwrights Arena, Theatre of Note and Sacred Fools. All readings are free to the public. The nine plays were chosen out of a total of 132 scripts submitted by 90 writers.
