The new Berman work performs through Aug. 21 at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre — where New Plays Uptown presented Roberto Aguirre Sacasa's The Mystery Plays earlier this summer. Opening night is set for Aug. 11.

Michael John Garcés directs the play about a Westchester family, whose life "spins wildly out of control when a down-on-her-luck movie star and a hopelessly romantic college girl invade their home," according to show materials.

The cast of The Triple Happiness also features Betsy Aidem (Sea of Tranquility, Stone Cold Dead Serious), Mark Blum (The Graduate, the upcoming Twelve Angry Men), Marin Ireland (Savannah Bay, Far Away), Keith Nobbs (The Lion in Winter, Fuddy Meers) and Jesse J. Perez (Recent Tragic Events, Up Against the Wind).

Sheedy, last seen off-Broadway in The Exonerated, has also appeared on stage in a stormy run as the first female star of the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch and the Douglas Carter Beane comedy Advice From A Caterpillar. The actress is known for her film work in "The Breakfast Club," "St. Elmo's Fire," "Short Circuit," "High Art" and "War Games" among others.

Juilliard graduate Berman received the Lila Wallace American Playwrights Fellowship and the Helen Merrill Award. The New Dramatists members has also penned Until We Find Each Other (Steppenwolf Theatre), The Theatre For One (New York Theatre Workshop) and Smashing (The Play Company). Director Garcés recently staged Craig Wright’s Recent Tragic EventsOff Broadway and its premiere at Washington, D.C.'s Wooly Mammoth Theatre. Other credits include Force Continuum (Atlantic Theatre), Finer Noble Gases (Humana Festival) and Havana is Waiting (Cherry Lane).
