News Altar Boyz Celebrates Two Years Off-Broadway March 1 Altar Boyz, the New World Stages musical about a Christian boy band, will celebrate its two-year anniversary March 1.

The musical, directed by Stafford Arima and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical Off-Broadway.

Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker wrote music and lyrics, and Kevin Del Aguila wrote the book, based on a concept by Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport.

The current Off-Broadway cast includes Landon Beard, Zach Hanna, Kyle Dean Massey, Eric Schneider and Shaun Taylor-Corbett.

Altar Boyz is also on a U.S. tour. Its upcoming cities include San Diego, San Francisco, Tempe, Honolulu, Pittsburgh and Wilmington.

The musical will make its European premiere at the Thalia Theatre in Budapest, Hungary, on March 23, and will also be presented in Brazil (performed in Portuguese), Sweden (performed in English with Swedish supertitles), Finland (in Finnish), Australia and Japan. The Korean production will also get a return engagement. The show's Off-Broadway producers are Ken Davenport and Robyn Goodman, in association with Walt Grossman, Ruth Hendel, Sharon Karmazin, Matt Murphy and Mark Shacket.
