Directed by David Galligan (Rita Moreno's Life Without Makeup), the limited engagement will continue through June 16. Ken Clifton is the musical director.
Always, Patsy Cline is penned by Ted Swindley and is based on the true story of Patsy Cline's friendship with housewife Louise Seger. Carter Calvert, who was seen on Broadway in It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues, will star in the title role.
According to Ogunquit, "Seger befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961 and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. Featuring the unforgettable hits of the Country Music mega-star, this funny and touching tribute celebrates the career and life of the singer who died tragically in a plane crash in 1963. 'Crazy,' 'I Fall to Pieces,' 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Walking After Midnight' are just a few of the 27 featured songs."
Struthers has been seen on Broadway in Grease, The Odd Couple and Wally's Café. She is best known for her role as Gloria Stivic in "All in the Family," for which she won two Emmy Awards. Struthers previously performed the role of Louise Seger in Always, Patsy Cline at the Ogunquit in 2003 and 2004.
Following Always, Patsy Cline, Ogunquit's season will include Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific (June 20-July 14); a new Red Sox version of Damn Yankees, featuring a revised book by Joe DiPietro and starring Carson Kressley (July 25-Aug. 18); 9 To 5: The Musical, starring Struthers (Aug. 22-Sept. 15); and Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story (Sept. 19-Oct. 21).
