Film & TV News Amandla Stenberg Will Join André Holland in Netflix Musical Drama The Eddy The new series is scheduled to make its premiere in 2020.

Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give, The Hunger Games) will star opposite André Holland (Moonlight, Broadway's Jitney) in the new Netflix musical drama series The Eddy, according to Deadline.

Damien Chazelle, the Oscar-winning director of La La Land, has teamed up with Tony and Olivier winner Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) to bring the new musical drama to Netflix. Chazelle will direct two of the eight episodes while also serving as an executive producer. Other directors include Houda Benyamina (Divines), Alan Poul (Tales of the City), and Tony and Olivier winner Thorne.

Set in present-day Paris, The Eddy revolves around a club, its owner, the house band, and the chaotic city that surrounds them. Thorne's screenplay will feature dialogue in French, English, and Arabic.

Stenberg has been cast as Holland's teenage daughter Julie.

La La Land Director and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Writer to Bring New Musical Series to Netflix

Original music is being supplied by Glen Ballard, the composer behind the forthcoming Alanis Morissette musical Jagged Little Pill (he co-wrote the album with Morissette) and the musical adaptation of Ghost.

The Eddy, which is scheduled to make its premiere in 2020, will begin production in France this spring.
