Classic Arts News American Ballet Theatre's Nina Ananiashvili Takes Medical Leave Nina Ananiashvili, a principal dancer with American Ballet Theater, will miss the fall season due to an unspecified injury or illness, the company announced Friday, September 10.
Ananiashvili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, and made her first appearance with the ABT in 1993, dancing Odette-Odile in Swan Lake. She is a longtime star of the Bolshoi Ballet and a founder of the Moscow Ballet Theater.

The company said Ananiashvili will return in February 2005 for a performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
