Love will also perform several of her hit tunes and will debut two new Christmas songs: "When Christmas Comes Around" and "Peace, Go Tell it on the Mountain." Love co-wrote the former with Tim Janis; she will perform the new song as a duet with Tony-winning Jersey Boys star John Lloyd Young. The latter is a brand-new arrangement of the popular spiritual "Go Tell it on the Mountain." (Love's new recording of the song features children singing from the "Mission to the Fatherless" orphanage in Kenya. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the single will be donated to the orphanage.)
The 7 PM concert will feature musical direction by Steven Van Zandt; Kevin Cooper conducts. Vocalists will also include Caroline Jones, Amy Petty, Billy Petty, Wendy McPike, Donald Braswell, Bridget Yingling, James Cella, Celia Kleeman and Jim Cole. Audiences can also expect performances by Emily Bear, the Celebrate America Choir and Children Song of New Jersey Choir.
Actress-singer Darlene Love, whose pop hits include such sixties classics as "He's a Rebel" and "Da Doo Ron Ron," has appeared on Broadway in Hairspray, Grease, Leader of the Pack and the cult classic Carrie. She was also nominated to the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame. Love's screen credits include "Shindig!," "Change of Habit," "Another World" and all four "Lethal Weapon" films. Her most recent recordings are titled "Age of Miracles" and "Unconditional Love."
Tickets for the evening are available by calling (212) 247-7800 or by visiting www.carnegiehall.org.
