The producers of the Michael Mayer-directed rock musical drawing from the Green Day album of the same name announced that starting at 5 PM April 20, visitors to AmericanIdiotonBroadway.com will see exclusive coverage of the opening night.
Visitors can expect:
Tony Award winner Mayer (Spring Awakening) took the solo-voice album (Armstrong is the front man) and reassigned songs to fit a new community of characters, including three young men from a small town who restlessly approach the world in different ways. Tony winner John Gallagher, Jr., plays Johnny, also known here as Jesus of Suburbia.
The score also borrows from punk group Green Day's latest album, "21st Century Breakdown," and uses songs that were cut from "American Idiot," the 2004 album that has sold 12 million copies.
