News Amoralists to Explore Adam Rapp's Ghosts in the Cottonwoods Off-Broadway Casting has been announced for the New York premiere of playwright Adam Rapp's Ghosts in the Cottonwoods, which will be presented Off-Broadway by the acclaimed downtown troupe the Amoralists in November.

Rapp will also direct the production that is set to run Nov. 11-Dec. 6 at Theatre 80 St. Marks. Ghosts in the Cottonwoods will officially open Nov. 13.

Inhabiting the play will be Amoralists troupers William Apps, James Kautz, Nick Lawson, Sarah Lemp, Mandy Nicole Moore and Matthew Pilieci.

Designing the production are Alfred Schatz (set design), Keith Parham (lighting design), Jessica Pabst (costume design) and Eric Shimelonis (sound design).

Here's how the Amoralists describe the play: "On the night of a terrible storm, a single mother and her younger son await the arrival of the older son, who has broken out of prison. Two others arrive before him: a stranger with a wounded leg and a girl with a suitcase. Nothing will ever be the same."

In recent seasons the rebellious downtown theatre ensemble the Amoralists have presented The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side, Happy In The Poorhouse, Amerissiah, The Hey You Monster and Chasing the Fantastic. Rapp's plays include The Metal Children, Nocturne, Faster, Animals & Plants, Finer Noble Gases, Stone Cold Dead Serious, Blackbird, Gompers, Essential Self-Defense and Red Light Winter.
