News An Alluring Young Italian and a Manhattan Widow Are Subjects of Joe Godfrey's Romance Language RLNYC Group will present the New York City premiere of Romance Language by Joe Godfrey this fall, a play about a wealthy Manhattan widow's relationship with her handsome young Italian language teacher.

Carl Andress leads a cast made up of Jessie Austrian, recently featured in Fiasco's acclaimed staging of Into the Woods Off-Broadway, Audrey Heffernan Meyer ("Royal Pains") and Jared Zirilli (Pretty Filthy). Performances begin Oct. 13, running through Nov. 8. An official opening night is set for Oct. 22 at Theater 511 at Ars Nova. Romance Language had its world premiere last year at the Seven Angels Theatre in Connecticut. The play follows the unexpected romance between the instructor and his pupil and the doubts the relationship raise for her daughter, who is concerned about his true intentions. According to press notes, "The three tangle with art, passion, and even vendetta."

The creative team includes scenic design by Paul Tate DePoo III, costume design by Tony Award nominee Gregory Gale, lighting design by Grant Yeager, sound design by Bart Fasbender and casting by Geoff Josselson. Stephen Sury is production manager and Ashley Rodbro is production stage manager.
