In addition to a musical performance, An American in Paris director-choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and stars Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope will sit down to speak with Colbert.

"The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," which premieres Sept. 8 on CBS, will air at 11:35 PM ET.

An American in Paris is an adaptation of the classic 1951 movie musical about an American artist who falls in love with a beautiful French ballerina in post-World War II Paris.

Like the film, the show uses songs from the George and Ira Gershwin songbook, with a new libretto by Craig Lucas. Extended ballet sequences are set to George Gershwin's orchestral music.
